Outstanding Student Award

Outstanding Criminal Justice Student Award

The Outstanding Criminal Justice Student Award is given at the annual University Honors Day ceremony in April. It recognizes outstanding academic excellence and scholarship among the Criminal Justice majors.

To be eligible students must (1) be a Criminal Justice undergraduate major with a minimum of 90 credit hours completed; (2) have a minimum total grade point average of 3.0 on all college work; and (3) submit a research paper related to Criminal Justice.

The research paper must be 15-18 double-spaced typed pages long (plus a reference page) in APA or MLA style with a minimum of 8 scholarly sources referenced and cited in text.

Grade point averages are calculated as of the completion of the Fall semester.

Selection of the award recipient is made by a Criminal Justice faculty committee which reviews the grade point averages and research papers submitted by eligible students to determine the most outstanding student overall. Students can submit (or add to) research papers previously submitted for class assignments, as long as the papers meet the above criteria.
