Installing VPN software

Installing VPN Software on your Remote Computer.

Download and install the VPN software from https://citc.unt.edu/datacomm/current
You will need your EUID and EUID password.

Select Cisco VPN Client for Windows 2000/XP/Vista (5.0.03.0560)
If you receive the "Open File – Security Warning" dialog box, click the Run button.
At the "WinZip Self‐Extractor" box, click the Unzip button.
If you receive the warning "User Account Control", click "Allow" to continue installation.

Follow the menu to install the software. You should be prompted to restart your computer after installation.

After restarting your computer, go to
→Start→ All Programs or Programs →Cisco Systems VPN Client →VPN Client

Click the New Icon and enter the information as shown below. Complete the fields as follows:

Connection Entry: UNT CITC VPN
Description: University of North Texas Virtual Private Network
Host: vpn.unt.edu
Name: General (NOTE: The name is case‐sensitive.)
Password: untvpnaccess (NOTE: Password is case‐sensitive and asterisks display instead of characters.)
Confirm Password: untvpnaccess (NOTE: The confirmation password is case‐sensitive and asterisks display instead of characters.)
Click the "Save" button to save this entry. Select Connection Entries/Exit VPN Client to quit.

Your software is now configured. Follow the steps below to connect to UNT’s VPN.

Connect to UNT's VPN

Make sure you are connected to the internet via your internet service provider.
Go to →Start →All Programs →Cisco Systems VPN Client →VPN Client
Double‐click the "UNT CITC VPN" connection entry.
Enter your UNT EUID and password.
The UNT legal notice will appear. Select Continue or select Disconnect if you do not agree.

If you continue, your computer will use the VPN to access the UNT network and use your internet service provider for other internet‐related tasks. If you cannot access other internet sites, please contact tech support, 565‐4454. or submit an online tech request. You may need to disconnect from the VPN access and restart your computer until tech support can assist you with your connection.

Map Your Drives

To access your Home and Shared drives and set them up as they appear on your office desktop computer, go to:

Start→ My Computer →Tools→ Map Network Drive

Mapping the Home Drive
In the box labeled Drive, select H
In the space labeled Folder, type: \\129.120.128.157\home\< Your EUID>
(Notice the \\ 2 back slashes at the beginning. )
Make sure Reconnect at logon is UNchecked.

Mapping the Shared Drive
In the box labeled Drive, select S
In the space labeled Folder, type: \\129.120.128.157\SHARED\<YourDepartment> (i.e ANTH, SOCI, etc.)
Make sure Reconnect at logon is UNchecked.
Click the Finish button. You will be prompted for your login and password again. Your login is unt\<EUID> and your password is your EUID password.
