I am getting a message that says ‘you do not have a valid enrollment time’, what does this mean?
Registration times are broken down by classification (freshman, sophomore, etc.) andwhen a student last took classes at UNT (new admit—never attended at UNT, previous semester, one semester ago, over a year ago, etc.).
- If you are a new admit to UNT then you must attend an orientation to register for classes.
- If you attended classes at UNT within the last two long semesters and/or summer then you may be registering out of your classification time.

How do I drop a course (keeping at least one class this semester/term)?
The procedure for dropping a course varies depending on when in the semester the course is being dropped.
During add/drop (the first week of classes) one can make changes online. It is recommended that if you are dropping outside this period to speak with your academic advisor/counselor or our front desk staff on current procedures to drop.
Always go back and confirm you have been dropped from a course by looking at your schedule on my.unt.edu or contacting the Registrar’s Office (940-565-2111)
How do I withdraw from the university (drop all my courses)?
Withdrawing from UNT cannot be done online (even if enrolled in only one course). You must contact the Registrar’s Office (940-565-2111) or go to their physical location (Eagle Student Services Center-ESSC) and have them drop your courses. Be sure to confirm you have been withdrawn by receiving a printed receipt.
How do I swap classes?
During the add/drop period you can change your schedule however you like (be sure you meet pre-requisites for the course(s) being added).
If swapping courses after add/drop you will need an administrative schedule change form. Come to our office, Chilton 289, for this form.
Where can I find important dates for the semester/term (registration dates, pass/no pass deadline, last day to drop a course, etc.)
What is Pass/No Pass?
This is an opportunity to convert a course from a graded status to non-graded. If you pass the course then you earn the hours, but a ‘P’ will post in place of a letter grade. If you fail the course then the grade will post as ‘NP’, thus not count in the GPA—nor will you earn the hours.
This can only be done with general electives (courses that will not count for core, major, minor, etc.) one course a semester. No more than 18 hrs of course credit can be applied to a degree as P/NP.
To convert a class to Pass/No Pass complete a form in our advising office, Chilton 289. The deadline to convert a course varies each semester/term. Use the link in the previous question for current dates.
Graduation
How do I apply for graduation?
You will complete a paper application that is available through our front desk, Chilton Hall 289, at the beginning of the semester/summer. There is a deadline each semester/summer so be sure to get your application completed as early as possible.
There is only one graduation application deadline for all summer graduates regardless of which summer term one finishes their course(s).
Where can I find out information about my graduation ceremony?
